You cannot hurt someone deeply and then hand them a deadline for healing.
Apt! A lot of people feel entitled to the forgiveness of others and that's where the problem starts. When we hurt people, we have no right to demand that they forget everything we put them through or coerce them into letting go within our desired time frame.
Besides, everyone processes things differently. The least we could do is take accountability for our actions and give them time to heal as they deem fit.
I love how you explained that even with genuine forgiveness, things may never remain the same because people assume that forgiveness automatically renews trust. It doesn't, so the best thing to do in such a situation is to respectfully walk away. Wonderful post, Tek!
