For weeks, Emily, John, and Michael had been organizing their hike through the woods. They were eager to see the stunning countryside and had packed everything they needed. Early in the morning, they went off, laughing and conversing along the way. They were moving forward effectively since the road was obvious and simple to follow.
As they proceeded farther into the forest, they noticed the trees squeezing together and the light dwindling. They looked at the map and saw they had been wrong. They decided to turn around and find the correct path, but soon realized they were totally lost.
They became aware that they needed to find refuge for the night as the sun started to set. They lit up an improvised campfire and went to bed. Yet as the evening wore on, odd events started to occur. They heard unusual animal noises, rustling in the bushes, and an unsettling quiet that seemed to envelop the woods.
The buddies snuggled close to one another, unsure of what to do and terrified. Then, they saw a man emerge from the trees. The person was tall, black, and had fiery red eyes. The figure pursued them as they fled screaming. Even though they tripped and fell, they continued on until they were utterly worn out.
They discovered an abandoned cottage in the woods after they were able to gather their thoughts. They approached the cabin with caution, but were glad to see it was vacant when they got there. They shut themselves inside and made an effort to sleep.
The next morning when they awakened, they saw strange markings and symbols all about the cabin. They came to the conclusion that they shouldn't have been where they were. They made the hurried choice to leave, but as they journeyed back to the city, they were aware that the bizarre things they had seen in the woods were not going away.
Once they eventually emerged from the woods, they realized that their hiking vacation had turned into a terrible ordeal. They knew that they would never forget the weird and terrible things they had seen and experienced in the woods, and they hoped that no one else would ever have to go through the same trauma.
