Pero a pesar de ello, de encontrar amigos que lo aprecien y conozcan como realmente es, Rintaro siente que aún falta algo más, no se siente del todo bien para aceptarse a sí mismo, hasta que conoce a Kaoru, una joven estudiante que iba a menudo a la pastelería de la familia de Rintaro, por lo cual llega en un punto a conocerse, y a entablar una linda amistad, siendo Kaoru una jovencita amable, enamorada del dulce sobre todo de pasteles, con un buen corazón pero sobre todo con un triste acontecimiento que sin querer queriendo Rintaro fue su salvador y es ahí cuando una linda y puro amor comenzara a surgir poco a poco entre ellos.
