Hello, hello, internet folks! How are you doing? Today I want to talk to you about an anime that is apparently a classic—sharing the same style as *Heidi* and *Candy*—though I must confess I only discovered it quite recently and was instantly hooked. It all begins in Bosnia with the death of our protagonist's father. He was a professional photographer who used to travel the world with his wife, daughter, and pet in a wagon. Mr. Edmond Paindavoine—Perrine's father—had once been a wealthy man, but he had cut ties with his own father because the latter refused to accept his family, given that Edmond's wife was of Indian descent. Following the father's death, Perrine, her mother, and their pet decide to set out on a journey from Bosnia to France to find Perrine's grandfather.

Hoy quiero hablarles de un anime que al parecer es un clásico pues es del mismo estilo que Heidi y Candy, pero debo confesarles que yo lo descubrí hace muy poco y quedé totalmente enganchada a él. Todo comienza en Bosnia con la muerte del padre de nuestra protagonista, él era fotógrafo profesional y acostumbraba viajar por el mundo con su esposa, su hija y su mascota a bordo de un carromato, el señor Edmond Paindavoine, es decir, el padre de Perrine, solía ser un hombre rico, pero se vio en la necesidad de cortar relaciones con su padre ya que este no aceptaba a su familia, pues la esposa de Edmond era de rigen indio, pero al ver que ya no tienen al padre, Perrine, su madre y su mascota deciden emprender el viaje desde Bonia hasta Francia para buscar al abuelo de Perrine
This is one of those anime series that fosters and promotes resilience; although the protagonist faces many hardships and experiences tragedies, she does not dwell on the pain but instead resolves her situations through hard work and intelligence—she never plays the victim.
Este es de esos animes que fomenta y promueve la resiliencia, si bien su protagonista atraviesa por muchas dificultades y vive tragedias, ella no se queda en el dolor sino que resuelve sus situaciones con trabajo duro, ella soluciona sus problemas con inteligencia, ella nunca se victimiza.
It is also a social critique of the system of that time; the Industrial Revolution brought progress and, certainly, jobs, but it also brought widespread labor exploitation, child labor, and overcrowding—all the hardships of the era that made life more difficult.
También es una crítica social al sistema de entonces, la revolución industrial trajo progreso y desde luego empleo pero también trajo mucha explotación laboral, el trabajo infantil y el hacinamiento, todas las dificultades de la época que hacían la vida más difícil.
The characters are by no means one-dimensional; for instance, Perrine’s grandfather is not a flat, unyielding villain. He is a human being with flaws, possessing both light and darkness—a man consumed by pride and, above all, by the pain of losing his son. This allows us to clearly see his evolution as he learns to get to know people before judging or labeling them. However, the xenophobia involved was a product of the times, driven by widespread prejudice against foreigners—and, for some reason, particularly against people from India.
Los personajes no son planos en lo absoluto, por ejemplo el abuelo de Perrine no es un villano plano e inflexible, es un ser humano con sus errores, con su luz y oscuridad, es un hombre consumido por el orgullo y sobre todo por el dolor de la pérdida de su hijo, por eso podemos ver su evolución de una manera más clara, él aprende a conocer a las personas antes de juzgarlas y ponerles una etiqueta, pero eran cuestiones de la época eso de la xenofobia porque existían muchos prejuicios con respecto a las personas extranjeras y por alguna razón, en especial con la gente de la India.
It is an emotional yet beautiful anime that teaches us a great deal about resilience, teamwork, and friendship. One of the things I loved most about this story is that, despite all the hardships she faced, she always found support and many friends who helped her; this demonstrates the importance of friendship and the fact that, at times, we cannot shoulder our burdens alone.
Es un anime emotivo pero muy hermoso que nos enseña mucho sobre resiliencia, trabajo en equipo y amistad, porque una de las cosas que más me gustó de esta historia es que a pesar de todas las dificultades que ella vivió siempre consiguió apoyo, muchos amigos que la ayudaron, y esto nos demuestra la importancia de la amistad, que a veces no podemos solos con las cargas
