Hello everyone! Today I am going to make a @tasteem review of my favourite seafood restaurant. It is called the River View Seafood Restaurant and it is located in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia.
The main reason of why my family and I went there a few days ago was to eat some mud crab. The signature dish of this restaurant is crab. They generally use mud crabs which are the best as they are the most nutritious and tasty among all crabs. I will share the reason on why we came here specifically to eat mud crab at the bottom of the post.
This is the restaurant from across the road where we parked our car. There is no parking space in front of the restaurant like usual restaurants but there are plenty on the opposite side of the road.
Unlike how it was about two months ago, there were some changes in the restaurant. They were decorating it and the waiters had new uniforms. If you look at the picture closely, you can see them wearing orange T-shirts with a picture of a crab.
This is the entrance of the restaurant. They have a crab statue because crab is their signature dish.
The restaurant is built above a river and we can eat while enjoying the breeze and watch big birds such as eagles and storks hunting for fish in the river. The eagles are very large and can be about a meter long if they spread their wings.
This is the view of river. I guess that is how the restaurant was named.
There are some boats parked because Kuala Selangor is a fishing spot so people use the boats to go fishing.
This is a part of the new decoration where they hanged colourful rainbow umbrellas.
More colourful umbrellas. They looked cheerful :)

You might have noticed that the prices are not indicated on the menu. That is because most of the dishes come in different sizes and servings. Also, it isn't a big deal as the prices here are very reasonable compared to the prices in other seafood restaurants.
This is fried rice in medium. It was sufficient for my family of four. It tasted good and there were prawns included in the fried rice.
This is the homemade sizzling tofu in large set. It tasted great!
This is a set of butter prawns in medium. The prawns were large and tasted great. The butter was also sweet.
This is a set of spicy mud crabs in small. There were different types of crabs available but we chose this. There were only two sizes of servings available which are small and medium. The small size consists of 4 crabs that weigh 1kg in total while the medium size consists of crabs weighing 2 kg. Hammers were provided to aid us in breaking the hard shells of the crabs.
Although we chose small, the crabs were still large compared to the usual crabs that we have eaten before. Mud crabs are generally large in size. The crabs had solid meat and tasted sweet. It took a long time to finish eating them all.
We ordered hot Chinese tea for each of us.
This is just a random picture of the meals. The total bill was around RM 200 (48.63 USD) including the crabs which cost RM 110 (26.75 USD). Generally, even uncooked mud crab cost around RM 100 (24.32 USD) per kg but since this is a famous fishing location, the mud crabs are freshly available with a good supply and come with a reasonable price.
Now, let me explain a little on why my family and I chose to get mud crab. My father got dengue fever recently and his platelets count dropped. It is a fact that mud crab helps to increase the platelets count, hence we took him to the restaurant specifically for this after getting discharged from the hospital. The good news is it worked like a charm! His platelets count jumped up to 300,000 from a mere 29,000 (normal range is 150,000 to 450,000). So if you know anyone dealing with dengue fever and are struggling to increase their platelets count, please share this with them. Suggest them to try eating mud crab.
In summary, I loved eating in this restaurant while enjoying the cool breeze of the windy day. The food tasted great and the price was cheaper than other seafood eating outlets. By the way, this is how messy it was at the end of our meal. The crab shells require some decent hammering in order to open up but it is totally worth it to do it to get a taste of the yummy meat. I am so glad to have found this restaurant long ago, not just because of how great the food tasted, but because it helped to cure my father's dengue fever.
