Hey guys! 😃 Today, I’m sharing the extended version of Zarvok, one of the cards I illustrated for of. Funny thing—I got so caught up in the details that I completely forgot to save the process shots. 😅 But hey, I still wanna dive into this piece and break down the thought behind it!
From the start, I knew Zarvok had to feel unstoppable. His design is all about raw power and steampunk vibes, with that fiery, steam-powered wheel that’s not just for movement—it’s a full-blown weapon. I wanted him to feel like a force of nature, someone who doesn’t stop for anything.
The forward-leaning pose really amps up the momentum, making it look like he’s charging straight into battle. His masked face and those glowing embers around him? Pure intimidation. You just know this guy means business.
So yeah... I kinda got lost in the details and forgot to take progress pics. 🤯 Happens when I get super into rendering textures, tweaking lighting, and adding those fire effects.
What I loved most was playing with contrast—gritty metal mixed with glowing embers, sparks flying everywhere, and that intense, chaotic energy. Every element was designed to make it feel like he’s in constant motion, tearing through anything in his way.
✨✨✨
🔹 Power stance: dude’s ready to wreck things.
🔹 Mysterious mask: adds to his intimidating aura.
🔹 Deadly wheel: not just for show—it’s his main weapon.
🔹 Lighting & texture mix: rusted metal meets blazing fire.
Even though I don’t have the usual step-by-step shots, I think the final piece speaks for itself. What do you guys think? Drop your thoughts 🔥💀
