Hey hivers, what’s up!
Last week I was kinda MIA because I was working on a project that took me longer than expected (thanks to power outages 😩).
Buuut I’m back now! And I’m bringing you this design, where I stepped out of my comfort zone. I wanted to try something I’d never done before: fusing two characters into one. In the end, it was easier than I thought because I used the symmetry tool (I don’t usually use it, but this time it really helped).
The characters I chose for this fusion are Light and Ocean 🎉🎉, two healers from @holozing. I love their style, so I draw them a lot. Idk, I thought it’d be a fun combo, so I gave it a shot!
I’ve dropped a couple of images so you can see the process of this portrait. It didn’t take me too long to make.
I started with some random scribbles, nothing too clear, but enough to sketch the idea.
Adding some volume and defining certain areas, I refined the sketch, giving it more shape.
As I progressed, I made some small changes and improvements I worked in grayscale, adding shadows, volume, and details I had to do it before moving on to color __
Alright, once the idea was solid, I moved on to colors. I used overlay mode to apply the original colors of the characters, but with different saturation levels.
So far, it wasn’t looking too bad. Using the same overlay mode, I added darker shades of the colors to give more volume to the previously flat colors. It had more life now, but there was still work to do.
After I had the base colors done, I just needed to add a few more details—but I didn’t do it at the time because it would’ve messed up what I was working on. And well… to be honest, it was actually because I thought of it later haha.

In the end I played around with lighting and shadows, adding some final touches. I decided to make some color adjustments using Curves, and I liked it better than how it was last step.
Hope you guys like this fusion as much as I do! Thanks for taking the time to check out my work!
