If we have to back down every time we consider something less than ideal—and feel fear because of it—we may not be able to accomplish much in this life.
And perhaps we won’t accomplish anything at all in this life if we’re always overcome by the feeling of fear.
It is, however, quite important—and indeed essential—that we begin to become aware of fear itself.
If we have a negative thought, and I’m able to self-reflect and realize that I’m not feeling well, that I’m feeling strange, because I thought of something negative—when we become aware of fear, we’ll be able to find the necessary ways to face it.
And how will we be able to face it?
By questioning what initially came to mind, looking at the situation, and calmly analyzing that things don’t always have to turn out for the worst—it may actually turn out much better than our first, less positive thought.
There are certain actions and decisions we make, in the middle of the process, that prevent—in a specific way—an unfavorable, negative, or harmful outcome for anyone.
And it is exactly at that moment that we face the image that frightened us. Not because we’re running away from it, but because we’re looking it straight in the eye.
And that “debate” takes place inside our minds.
And what starts to happen from that point on is that, the moment we begin to consider the possibility that the worst-case scenario—or the negative outcome—might not actually happen, we make the decision to move forward even if there’s a risk of failure, but with the courage to face the challenge and grow through the entire process. Not shying away from the challenge, or throwing in the towel right from the start.
If I’m afraid—well, we all have fears! If I stop doing things because of fear, then I become paralyzed.
Despite the fear, don’t forget to invest, take action, step in, intercede, and move forward!
And if, in the end, what we feared actually happens, there will of course be sadness. But if it doesn’t, the joy and the confidence gained to face future fears and challenges will increase significantly!
