Today's freewrite prompt, brought to us all by @mariannewest, is 'bundle'. (Yes, it sounds like a Sesame Street summary when I say it like that. "One bundle, two bundle, three bundles! Ah-ah-ah.")
Anyway, check out her post here: https://steempeak.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-735-5-minute-freewrite-friday-prompt-bundling
Do that first, then come back to read this. Or do it the other way around. Either way.
It was cold. Not the “minus something or another that causes even a Polar Bear to flee for warmer ground” type cold, but close. Cold enough that boots, gloves, and a tuque were required. And a good warm coat. Maybe it really was that cold.
It was winter. Not only cold, but it was winter now, and there was snow on the ground. And for some reason I had not yet bundled any of the firewood in the yard to bring inside. So here I was, out back, bundled up in more clothes than I really wanted to be in, and stacking firewood. Bundled and bundling so to speak. A bundler. Yes, that was me, right now: A bundled, bundling Bundler. It’s a good thing I was only thinking that, because there’s no way I’d ever be able to say that, even if my mouth was frozen shut.
It was snowing. Now that was the last straw. I grabbed a few logs, went back inside, and got a large fire roaring. I had to make it hot enough to melt the snow outside, and Catherine would be home soon, and I’m sure she’d like it.
It was warm. The fire was good. I was sitting, beer in hand, feet kicked up, and enjoying the fire when I heard Catherine come through the front door. I padded over to greet her and was greeted, in turn, with a kiss: cool, refreshing lips on mine, followed by a chilled cheek press against my own. It was invigorating, in its own way. Maybe the cold wasn’t so bad after all.
