The sound of the train clattered closer
(Clack clack)
As I looked the young man in the eye.
He pleaded with me to step off of the tracks.
Told me if I stayed here, then I'd die.

The train looked so small in the distance
(Clack clack)
But still, the lad shouted and trilled.
"Get off of the track!" he implored me.
"This train's moving fast - you'll be killed!"

But I'd spent all my life taking orders.
(Nag nag)
So I stood there, did nothing but wait.
I looked at the oncoming engine,
Closed my eyes and accepted my fate.

The sound of the train was upon me
(Clack clack)
"It's not going to stop!" came the warning
I braced myself...

... thud ...

... the train hit my toe.

Now that's going to hurt in the morning.

Today I learned two things about my son. First, he gets mad when I stand on his toy train set. Second, he follows through on his threats!
