It has been years since,and all I can remember my mom would always prepare our meals. However, thinking back ,one evening has been embedded in my mind.
As normal dad would come back from work and together we would get ready for supper . The supper table was always ready for us to set down. She served a jar of jam and 2 slices of extremely burned toast. The toast was not just burned it was completely black. I waited to see if he noticed and commented on the toast. My dad just eat his toast and asked me how my day was.
Later ,I remember my mom apologizing to dad for burning the toast.I would never forget his reply. Dolly ,I love burned toast, thank you . Before going to bed, I greeted my dad and asked him if he really enjoys burned toast. He wrapped his arms around me and said "your mom had a long tiring day, and burnt toast has not hurt anyones feelings, but a harsh words do".
He continued " you know life is with imperfect things and imperfect people,I am by no means prefect ,just like every other human. I have learned over the years to accept each others faults and choosing to celebrate each others differences, these are one of the most important keys for a healthy ,growing and lasting relationship. Our life's are to short to wake up with regrets."
