Toilet Paper Roll Height Inquiry

Inquiry Question: Can we find the height of one toilet roll and seven toilet roll using a line of best fit(trend line) and extrapolation.

Methodology;

  1. Measure the height of 2.4, and 6 stacked toilet paper rolls.

  2. Record findings in a table.

Use extrapolation to find the height of one toilet paper roll and seven rolls.

Conclusions: We discovered that each toilet roll is 10 centimetres high. We initially measured in increments of 2-6 rolls to create a trend line(line of best fit) with an r-value of positive 1. We then used extrapolation to predict successfully the height of 1 and 7 rolls. Using Interpolation, values of 3 and 5 could be correctly gained from the trend line.
