I am having a great time teaching astronomy to homeschoolers in grades 4 to 6 this year. I am using an Apologia Astronomy textbook combined with an assortment of art projects. This week we learned about the sun and how an eclipse happens.
We then made eclipse pictures usng black cardstock and oil pastels. I gave the students circles to tape with drafting tape, then let them choose colors to use around the taped circle.
They blended the colors with cotton swabs or with their fingers. Then they removed the taped circle to reveal lovely eclipse images.
I think they did well. Suitable for framing!
