@bibanaThat's a beautiful Baroque church located right next to Catania's Cathedral (I'll write about it in the next blog), in the heart of Piazza del Duomo. Built in the 18th century after the devastating earthquake of 1693, it is known for its elegant fa莽ade and impressive dome. There is a terrace on the dome, offering a lovely panoramic view over Catania and the surrounding area, including Mount Etna if it's a clear day.

馃 Expedition at Sucia Island in Washington's San Juan Island Archipelago by
@dtamPerhaps the most famous of the island's erosional features is this pock marked cliff, called China Caves. They aren't really caves, but weathered holes in the sandstone. The story is that Chinese immigrants trying to illegally smuggle into the country from the opium dens of Victoria would sometimes hide out in these caves. Later the rum runners would use the island to escape the revenue cutters.

馃 Cecilienhof, a place where history and the future were made 馃嚛馃嚜馃嵒馃エ Welcome to Germany by
@maxinpowerCecilienhof is actually a small castle located in the Neuer Garten in northern Potsdam, right on Lake Heiligen See. It was built between 1913 and 1917 in the style of an English country house鈥攚ith half-timbering, red bricks, and pointed gables. The building deliberately appears modest and cozy, in stark contrast to the opulent residences of the Hohenzollerns in Sanssouci or the Neues Palais.
