If there's one thing I've learnt about music, it would be the fact that the older you get, the more you appreciate them. I'd liken music to wine; the longer it stays the better it tastes.
My theme for this week in a nutshell is loyalty. For some reason, country music from the 60's had a feel of loyalty attached to them; at least the ones I've come across.
For as long as I can remember, I always woke up to these tracks playing from my dad's room. These songs felt very bland and uninteresting to listen to. Fast forward to many years later, I appreciate these songs better because I totally connect with the lyrics and the tempo of the songs.
As you must have guessed,all the tunes today are country songs. If you were born in the mid 60's , you'd appreciate these tunes better.
One thing I like about the song is flow. This song is perfect for recuperating, who am I kidding, most country songs from the the 60's are perfect for this course.
"But I back it on up, turn it around, take it on home"
This line from the song portrays a different kind of loyalty. A type that is totally rare to find in the present days.
Lynn summarises the fact that being a loyal and submissive woman can be very taskful but if you indeed love your partner, you would stand by them. A little tip for the ladies.
I feel that if everyone listened to songs like these, the world would honestly be a better place; more love to go around.
This is my favourite of today's trio. It tells a tale of a man that is leaving his wife and home with a heavy heart and not certain of his return. It feels like the type of song that people who are constantly travelling round the world , leaving their family at home, would sing. Quite comforting.
While on my little 'country music' escapade, I realised that songs from the 60's had very long titles. The shortest title I saw was 'daddy' by Donna Fargo, the rest were nothing less than four words. One thing I can say is that the artists then were very expressive and hence, their songs were easy to connect with.
Sometimes, I wonder how it felt like to live in the 60's, enjoying good music and living life to the fullest. What do you think?
