Kate hastened her pace as she kept hearing a thudding sound behind her. It kept coming closer and closer. Someone was definitely following her. She immediately recalled her training "if you feel someone is following you, make three bends and if the person is still in the same track with you, prepare to take action". She did just that and the person kept coming, increasing paces in sync with Kate.
Kate made four bends, not just three but four so that she would be entirely sure that she was being followed. When she stopped at the fourth bend, she brought out her pepper spray and when the stalker came towards that end she graciously and graceful adorned his face with the pepper spray.
"Shit! Jesus Christ Kate!"
That voice sounded familiar, Kate thought. She brought out her phones and flickered that flash light on his face.
" It's me! Sam!"
" Sam? Oh Sam! What in the hell is wrong with you Sam! You don't follow an armed woman like that at night"
" An armed woman? Sam chuckled you call that little thing in your hand a dangerous thing? He laughed out loud this time. "Help me up please".
"Nahh, I won't, let's see you do it yourself" she folded her hands and stretched forth a leg watching sam meander his way up. Immediately Sam got up, he did some stunts and Kate found herself in the ground too.
"You don't get to see me meander alone" he winked.
Kate gasped, " you sly piece of shit". She got up with a lot of ease a looked Sam straight in the eyes and gave him the 'watch your back' look. Sam pulled her in for a hug.

" Damn! I've missed you so much! Your craziness and all" Kate didn't budge. She knew Sam was up to something.
"It's been fifteen years! Fifteen whole years Sam. Spit it out. What are you here for? How did you even find me?"
"Cool! Someone kept track of time for me". Kate rolled her eyes
"Enough with the jokes Sam and get to the point!"
" Fine my Katie, I got released yesterday"
" Don't call me that, I'm not 'your'Katie, and you got rey from where?"
" You have and will always be my Katie" he tried touching her face but slapped his hands down.
" Released from where Sam"
"From the agency doh"
"Oh wow! Oh my! I thought you'd die in there"
"You don't seem happy for me Katie"
"Not Katie, Kate and why would I be happy for you? Give me one good reason to be!"
"I thought of you day and night Katie, for the last fifteen years, I've been very unsettled. I wanted to be with you but I didn't want you in the agency, that place is hell itself. I didn't mean to lock out on you, I did it to protect you"
"Protect me? Protect me from what!? Just say you were too much if a coward to do anything!"
"That's not it Katie, I came back for you as soon as I could".
" We were supposed to be released the same day, but no! You told them to prolong your stay oh ye good Samaritan. Samaritan my ass!"
" Here's the thing Katie, I stayed those extra fifteen years because they threatened to keep coming for us from time to time. I had to deal the final alliance and by taking up the extra fifteen years. If I didn't, you'd probably be dead by now! How about that! I did it all for you all for us, so that we could make a family when I get released".
Kate started crying. " You did that for me?"
" Yes my Katie, I did it all for you" he smiled.
" I thought you had forsaken me" she went closer to his shoulder and kept sobbing. Sam hugged her tightly.
" It's okay Katie, I'm here now and no one can harm you"
" I missed you so much Sam", Sam smirked. " Of course you did" he said Sarcastically. Kate felt the sarcasm and gave him a smack on the shoulder.
"Let's go to my place, you could spend the night there"
"Sure thing, after you miss soon to be Mrs"
Kate and Sam walked towards Kate's apartment and they kept talking about the house they'd live in, how many kids they'd have,places they'd go for vacation and a whole lot of other things. Deep down, Kate always knew Sam would come for her, her instincts weren't wrong after all.
