When companies send out rejection mails to applicants, they do so for several reasons. It might be they have an overwhelming number of applications or they got just the perfect applicant and are not searching anymore. I think it's really nice they send out reject mails because they're not really obligated to but they do it anyway.
Most Nigerian employers don't care to, it's no one's business if you spent the whole night working on your cover letter or resume. It's not their business if you went through the trouble of taking their bullshit 60 mins assessment test. They got their applicant, the rest can go fuck themselves.
Whenever I get a reject mail, it comes with either of two emotions. Sometimes I feel like an absolute piece of shit.
Am I not good enough? Especially for a position meant for multiple applicants. Is my two page well crafted, internet generated, plagiarised with a few tweaks here and there CV not good enough? It's my cover letter right? It's too relaxed and makes me seem lazy? Or is it too serious and I seem over zealous and want to take the manager's job? I feel recruiter garnered the most professional vocabulary to tell me, "fuck off Miss Precious, go die of hunger and ponder on your existence"
Other times, I feel like THE shit.
The recruiter probably looked at her screen and was like, "you know what, I'm so sad we can't afford you right now. I really wish we could employ you, it genuinely breaks my heart but you're just too good for us. I hope one day you would find us worthy to be a part of our team". That's basically how I feel with most of the reject mails I get. It tells me the recruiter took out time to look through my CV, particularly if they start with 'Miss Precious', so I'm not just sending out CVs to ghosts.
I got two reject mails this week and I smiled because I also ignored three interview invites. I'm a desperate, selective job seeker all in one. I'd rather do a volunteer job than take a shitty job offer. Never settle for less, you're too good for some shit.
