I've always wanted to make pants/shorts because I love wearing pants so much. I finally tried my hands on shorts for a start with a leftover ankara print fabric. I had earlier used the fabric to make a dress for my mum two months ago. It was quite easy to make and if I were to make pants, I'd use the same pattern, only with a longer length.
Here's a quick how-to of this shorts.
I drafted out my shorts pattern on paper using my measurements and cut it out on my fabric
I cut out two pocket patterns for the left and right side of the shorts
I joined the pocket piece to the shorts and top stitched
I then joined front and back pieces of the shorts and also the inseam
The zip was fixed in
Next, I cut out a band the length of my waist, attaching an elastic band only at the back portion of the band
Lastly, I hemmed the bottom of the shorts
...And the final look!
