I made this slim skirt from a pair of wide-legged pants. Here's my process, step by step.
After opening the inseam completely, I extend the front and back seams by pinning out the crotch fabric.
Once I checked the drape on my dress form, I sewed the seams. With pinking shears, I trimmed the seam allowances to prevent fraying.
I also left the bottom part of the back seam open for walking ease. Then I hemmed the bottom edge to my desired length. Voila!
If you want to try this, be sure to use pants with wide legs. Otherwise you would need to add more fabric to make the skirt wide enough for sitting and walking.
