Normally, Fridays would be a rest day for me, but I couldn’t pass up a chance to put in an easy Z2 run with my buddy Jack.

And this run proves that mixing in some heart zone training is having a positive effect. When I first started running while trying to keep my bpm in zone 2 (a pace I should be able to keep indefinitely), I had to plod along at a walk-jog pace of around a 14:00 mile. My Z2 runs have since improved to about 12:00 miles. So if I'd ever do something crazy, like run an ultra marathon, that'd be about the pace I'd target.
