Hive has being dominated by great initiatives (creative challenges) that promote a greater interaction among users (strengthening the engagement and the sense of collectivity, which is quite importante to keep this place working properly) and one of the most recent - and very nice one - comes from psos@psos.

It's a musical challenge (Music A to Z Challenge) that obeys the alphabetical order where each participant has to remember two artists (singers / bands) with the letter of the day (today the letter is D) and two songs that belong to them.

Don't forget about this: A brief commentary on the chosen songs is also necessary.

Here are my choices:

Damien Rice - "The Blower's Daughter"

Well... Like so many other people around the world, I met this very talented singer through this song at the time of the release of the movie Closer. The track is one of the movie's main soundtracks and it manages to convey all the emotion that the listener needs to hear in order to better feel the events of the story.

This is one of his most emotional songs (with one of the best verse constructions... it's almost like listening to poetry sung by a very calm and rustic voice), because it has a meaning full of symbolism, an extremely captivating melody and a very strong connection with aspects of real life.

Dido - "Thank You"

I met this great singer by chance, while I was changing the TV channels on a boring day. Now, I don't remember what TV program I saw her on the first time, but as soon as I saw her and heard this song I had to listen to it until the end because it hooked my attention.

The song has a really cool and calm vibe. The lyrics have a useful message and also connect with many aspects of reality (like the song I mentioned from the singer above), however... In another type of perspective (which is also very important), with a less introspective way.

See ya in the next round, folks!
