I was a good Samaritan last night, a friend phoned, he had missed his last train home and could he stay, why of course, I would never see anyone stuck so across he came, we had a chat and then I went to sleep.
Saturday morning normally consists of getting up and making a bit of breakfast, TV on and watch some cookery programs for a while till I know what to do with myself and wake up.
This Saturday was a wee bit different, I decided to walk said friend a bit of the way as it was a nice morning, in fact it was a great morning, not many people out and no rain.
On the way back I came to Queen's Park and seen the gates, ah why not I thought, it’s a nice morning for an even nicer walk back home.
There is part of the park that I always forget about till I am passing by and thatch what I call the flagpost, it’s a raised are of the park that gives you a panoramic view of Glasgow and I could sit there all-day long.
There is a small guide that helps you identify what you are looking at, but over the years it’s become shiny and smooth, but you can kind of make out what you are looking,
It's all old cobblestones and park benches
I Always get a wee melancholy felling when I read the inscription on the bench,
It makes me wonder at the lives of the people who have sat here over the years looking out over a landscape that ash seen them go and it stays, who I wonder will sit here in years to come doing the same as me, looking out over Glasgow and wondering who else did the same and what they were thinking when they did.
It always leaves me feeling a little sad, but when you look at the view that recedes a little and you marvel at the world.
Sit long enough and that’s when you start to hear the wind in the trees, it’s a quiet still feeling, and always makes me think of far off days.
I tried to get some video of the way the wind sounds, it’s not as good as I hoped, but it gives you an idea.
You know when it’s time to go as the clouds started to look a bit ominous,
and so, it was time to go...
