Nara Park is a vast public park which is situated in the heart of Nara City. It has beautiful seasonal flora, lush greenery and beautiful scenery.
Nara Park is home to over 1,200 deer, so it’s well-known as "Nara Deer Park”. It’s considered a haven for wild deer.
Therefore, not only in the Todai-ji Temple you can enjoy many cute wild deer, as I mentioned in my previous post, you can also admire plenty of lovely wild deer in Nara Park as well.
Due to Japanese belief, deer are considered servants or messengers of the gods, so the deer in Nara Park and in the Todai-ji Temple roam freely and are very tame, and not afraid of humans. You can stroll through the park close to them while they relax, wander, or eat, etc.
Nara Park is a delightful and relaxing park for locals, tourists and the deer alike indeed.
