Hello weekend!
In order to keep up with my posting schedule, I’ve been procrastinating on the perfect time to post this article of how I spent my past weekend and finally I have the opportunity so here it is.
Last weekend was the actual celebration days of the Muslim Eid Mubarak feast.
My eldest sister was invited by her Muslim friends and colleagues to join in on their celebration and of course who else to be her plus two asides my other elder sister and I.
We went all the way to the outskirts of Lagos for the event and were on a road trip for about 19 miles almost taking an hour plus to get there but I have to say eventually it was all worth it.
We booked an Uber to the place (which was a struggle by the way because nobody was willing to go that far on a Sunday morning) and when we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly that they took the liberty to also invite our Uber driver in on the fun.
We were ushered to our seats and immediately asked to choose our first meal.
I opted for rice first just so I can still have some room in my tummy for other goodies because I know how excessive these feasts can be as this was not my first time celebrating with them.
Our Uber driver had fried rice as well and later left with a huge smile on his face to continue with his hustle.
After the meal, I convinced my sisters to take a few pictures with me before the beautiful sun goes down. We did and had fun doing so as it was such a happy atmosphere.
Further more, other visitors and friends were trooping in so we had to mingle and also welcome them.
After everyone was settled and seated, it turned into a party. Little kids entertained us by playing games and having competitions. I personally enjoyed the performance because there was one little cutie I was rooting for, her way of dancing was so funny and as short and little as she was made it more funny and caught my full attention.
She won by the way!
Moreover while the whole competition was going on, we were served our second meal starring pepper soup. My sisters enjoyed this more than I did because I’m not necessarily a fan of pepper soup made by anyone else asides myself or my mum, although I had a taste and even if it was still a pass for me, it was actually delicious.
About twenty minutes later, it was on to the third meal of the day starting Amala and ewedu with huge chunks of meat. Once again, I’m not a huge fan of Ewedu but the meat though, I willingly enjoyed.
It did not end there. We finally had the last meal of the day as we couldn’t take it anymore. Amala and Efo.
This was the highlight of the event for me because it was so delicious and by far my favorite among all the other meals I ate.
Thankfully we were offered more than enough Amala, efo, rice and meat to take back home as we couldn’t fit any more food in our belly.
Finally it was getting late and time to leave so we extended our appreciation, thanked our hosts and left the event happier and fuller than we arrived.
It’s been a fun streak of weekends these past few weeks, anticipating what this one has in store! 😁
