Intro
Good morning to all of the #Hive travelers!
Today I want to tell you about the second part of my trekking at Acquacheta, for those who missed the first part I suggest to read it at the following link:
The return trips are always more tiring than the outbound trips, this is something I've observed in all the experiences I've had, and I think it's a good thing.
Every trip, even a walk or a trek like the one I did at Acquacheta, leads to unique experiences and personal growth. On the way out you know you will have a great experience, on the way back you know you will have to go back to your life and habits.
In this case we arrived up to the wonderful waterfall of Lavane, with very fresh and clean water, a spectacle of nature! Now we have to go back to complete the loop route that brings us back to Portico San Benedetto.
As you will see from the pictures, the return route is much more difficult, impassable and long, but it is still beautiful to do because in some places you get completely lost in nature.
...lost, in the green and in the crystal clear water,
we become nature,
only the beat of our heart reminds us
what it means to be human.
Editor's note: All of the photos you'll see in this post were made by me, exclusively for the #HaveYouBeenHere community, and for the amazing project of @pinmapple.
Let's come back to Portico San benedetto
Here we are at the waterfall, a great spot to take a break, a good sandwich and some fruit is the perfect ingredient to recover to the fullest.
I recommend everyone to bring fruit and water during the trekking and to minimize the salty foods especially if we are in summer season.
This waterfall is gorgeous, and hides wonderful details, like this beautiful web created by a tiny spider, a true artwork.
Another beauty of nature are the mosses that cover tree trunks and stones.
Mosses are small plants without vascular tissue belonging to the division Bryophyta, which counts about 10.000 species spread all over the world, mainly in woody areas and along water courses, where shade (sciaphilia) and humidity prevail. Characterized by poorly developed stems and leaf structures, they appear as the most evolved and voluminous members of the previous division Briophyta being able to reach extensions of 20 cm (up to 50 for the tropical moss Dawsonia superba). Some species (Sphagnum spp.) do not contain chlorophyll but can accumulate large amounts of liquid in their tissues by osmosis.
What we see in these pictures is a beautiful green expanse, a very large meadow surrounded by Casentino forests, it is located in the middle of the path, behind the Lavane waterfall and it is really wonderful.
We rested a bit more here to face the journey home, and it was wonderful.
I think this spot in the forest is a perfect place to meditate, especially when there are few people and complete silence.
Here you can really be present to yourself and the universe and become aware of your emotions.
The grass forms a gorgeous and perfect mantle, there are plenty of insects underneath, so it is recommended to use a towel or sheet to sit safely.
Here we found a beautiful specimen of Praying Mantis, a very special insect that due to its position resembles a person praying with folded hands.
The praying mantis, also called European mantis, is one of the most common species of the order Mantodea.
This insect is famous for its strange mating ritual, the female in fact after mating devours the male starting from the head.
A bit creepy, I know... but it's nature... who can judge it?
The forest gets thicker and thicker, nature wins over everything, the trees and bushes dominate the valley and are the undisputed protagonists of this magnificent spectacle.
Some ruins of stone buildings of an ancient monastery that was in these parts, these small houses are really beautiful to see, they reflect exactly what are the images of the houses that are described to children in fairy tales,
maybe they are really the result of a fairy tale ... Who knows how many things they would have to tell.
The trail gets steeper and steeper and we are getting higher and higher, before long we will be able to see the valleys as we climb the heights on the walk.
Here we are, we arrived at almost 1000 m asl, and the view is really breathtaking, there is really no need to be good photographers, this landscape speaks for itself.
Beautiful, every shade of green you can see, they are endless! Being here is one of the many things worth living for.
Here we have reached the top of the highest mountain that we cross during the route, from here on we will start to descend again towards the valley.
Some breathtaking views of the mountains on the other side of the valley, here nature seems infinite.
Some breathtaking views of the mountains on the other side of the valley, here nature is lost to view.
Here we are again immersed in the forest and nature, this landscape will accompany us for about an hour and a half on the return trip.
The return route is quite difficult, there are very large differences in height and it is necessary to be trained to be able to face them at their best.
We put in a good pace and succeeded in the route and it was really great.
I didn't take many pictures in the last part of the path because it was necessary to be very careful and there weren't many stopping points, I leave to you and your imagination the final part that brought us back to the valley.
Conclusion
An amazing experience, one of those feelings that make you feel that something inside you has changed.
After this wonderful trek my brother and I promised ourselves to organize and do new ones every now and then.
Being in the middle of nature is a cure for the soul, it frees us from the stress of everyday life and brings us great inner peace.
Human's relationship with nature is strange: the more you lose yourself in it, the easier it is to find yourself again
I understood this perfectly after having concluded my walk at Acquacheta and I hope to try it again soon.
Thanks for the reading! ☺️
