This type of bird species, known as Caracara Cheriway, has a greater presence throughout the American continent, although it tends to be more characteristic between Central America and the northern part of South America. And for this opportunity, I show you some photographs of this beautiful bird, which has become present in the country where I live Venezuela, especially in regions with a lot of biodiversity such as the states of Amazonas and Bolivar.
Este tipo de especie de ave, conocida como Caracara Cheriway, tiene mayor presencia por todo el continente americano, aunque suele ser más característicos entre centro de América y la parte norte de Sudamérica. Y para ests oportunidad, les muestro algunas fotografías, de esta hermosa ave, que se ha hecho presente en el país donde vivo Venezuela, sobre todo en regiones con mucha biodiversidad como los estados Amazonas y Bolívar.
It is a bird that can have measures a little lower, compared to species such as eagles, having a frequency between 40 and 60 cm in length, and up to 120 cm wingspan, distance between the tips of the wings.
Es una ave que puede llegar a tener medidas un ooco más baja, a comparación de especies como las águilas, teniendo una freciencia entre los 40 y 60 cm de longitud, y una medifa hasta lod 120 cm de envergadura, distancia entre las puntas de las alas.
Among other characteristics of these birds, is that they usually have a diet based on small mammals and reptiles, although they are slower birds both in flight and hunting, unlike species such as eagles, which become faster predators, as well as their flights are faster. On the other hand, the Caracara Cheriway, can become a scavenger, this means that it can feed on rotten meat and its hunting method is based on using its beaks and claws to eat.
Entre otras características de estas aves, es que suele tener una dieta a base de pequeños mamíferos y reptiles, aunque son aves más lentas tanto en vuelo y caza, a diferencia de especies como águilas, que llegan a ser depredadores más rápidos, asi como también sus vuelos son más rápidos. Por otra parte la Caracara Cheriway, puede llegar a ser carroñero, esto quiere decir que puede alimentarse de carnes ya podridas y su método de caza se basa en utilizar sus picos y garras para así comer.
In the case of these specimens that can be seen in the photographs, they are in captivity, because they were rescued possibly as a result of some mistreatment suffered. Depending on the age of this species, they can be reinserted to their natural habitat, if their time in captivity was not so long.
En el caso de estos ejemplares que se pueden ver en las fotografías, se encuentran en cautiverio, debido a que fueron rescatadas posiblemente producto de algun maltrato sufrido. Dependiendo de la edad de esta especie, puede ser reinsertadas a su hábitat natural, si su tiempo de cautiverio no fue tan extenso.
