To me and countless others this guy is actually an unbelievably good person. I still find it ridiculous that some clueless wonders like to throw around terms like scammer.
The term does not really equate. Let's put it into a normal world scenario. Say someone you know showed you some product they bought from their local department store. They liked the product and they got a bonus for telling you about it. Hell, let's say the store was walmart, a few months go by and walmart goes belly up or no longer carries the product. Would you chase the person around for months calling them a scammer and other worse names? Of course you wouldn't!
Yet bitconnect was nothing more than an online store with a virtual product. Phrases like "up to" are never to be taken as a guarantee of any sort. Nobody tries to sue their isp when they say speeds of "up to" xxx mb/s and they certainly do not chase around anyone who may or may not have referred them to said isp with or without benefit.
The truth is bitconnect was and is responsible and the any losses suffered are the responsibility of those who suffered the loss. Laid out within the terms and conditions that all participants had to agree to everytime they made a move was this cool little thing that stated you might lose every thing you put in, but nobody reads those.
Instead of running around like dodo birds everyone in the crypto community should be fighting against SEC intrusion into crypto. After all the reason crypto came about in the first place was to return the power of finance back to everyday people. Not banks, not goverments, but people across the globe.
This is the single most important point about all crypto-currencies in general. So please put on your big person clothes and keep it unregulated. Celebrate your wins and even when you take your lumps. Take those lumps with honor. True freedom can be had through love and honor, but only if the tears can be dried and we stop begging for intervention.
