I had an argument last night with some Steemians regarding EIP, curation and valuing Steem. I will not name names, but they can self identify if they want to. These were not Steemian's without influence though, and I also believe that all of them want to see Steem be successful.
The talking point is EIP will help save Steem by encouraging curation and downvotes.
In a room of adults who have resources, I asked if this post should be on trending.
https://steemit.com/steemit/@isb/steem-cross-5300-satoshi-today
Everyone in the room agreed it shouldn't. The problem is these invested individuals do not agree on what to do about it.
And it's not just this post. This account was started in April, likely by a Steem Insider who knows how to work the system. In the beginning, it was trying to stay off the radar, but when no one cared about the abuse the account kept escalating.
What is going to happen to the Steem earned by this account?
Here is a copy of a transaction from the wallet.

Here is more information on this account if you are interested.
It's not just this account, I could show you many of these to varying degrees. Many of them owned by the people who are promoting EIP.
Will the EIP help?
If people do not value their investment enough to stop people from abusing Steem will not be able to retain value.
Who knows maybe EIP will work. Since the voting services of some top witnesses are incapable or unwilling to remove their votes, I find it hard to believe they are going to begin downvoting.
My point is this devalues Steem directly, by sending Steem to the markets. It devalues anyone who is putting in real effort to improve the value of Steem. It looks like shit and it is being done to various degrees all over the place by some of the largest accounts on Steem.
The Authors are not over-rewarded the scammers and spammers are over-rewarded.
I will not shut up because I am highly concerned about the upcoming hardfork and the impact it will have on our remaining community.
In one hardfork we will likely fund the SPS.. removing something like 10% of Author Rewards. We will switch from 25/75 curation/aurhor rewards to 50/50 AND create a downvote pool also out of Author rewards. That is a shit load of change, and I am very concerned what impact it will have on our current community.
The community is more than content creators. The community plays the games, gambles, made art and stories for SteemMonsters, they bought the cards they posted about the game. The community paid to play drugwars and some spammed their fights but others enjoyed playing game with their friends.
Dan wants a community that's what Voice is about. It isn't that it is a huge money maker it is that Dan is smart enough to understand the value having a community of users brings. You launch your apps to a community they are your beta testers, your art creators, your shills. And the games are more fun because we know each other.
I can't stop beating this dead horse because I believe we are at an important juncture right here, and as part of my over involved personality, it is not in my nature to sit in a car that is being driven off a cliff and remain silent.
I would promise again to shut up, but I think we all know I can't. (I had the right to remain silent, but not the ability)
