Male Cardinals are easy to spot because of their bright red feathers, even when they are trying to hide. I love to listen to them sing their songs. Last year I only saw one pair of Cardinals and this year I have seen many building nests in 3 pine trees and one maple tree. These photos are fuzzy because I had to use the zoom lens to the max since they were so far away but I couldn't resist posting them.
I always wanted to catch a bird in flight.
Their crest lies flat when they are calm but when excited, their crest is a tall peak. I wish they were excited to see me but I think they were nervous from me pointing the camera and clicking like a mad woman.
A clear photo when I didn't use the zoom lens to the max but you can barely see the cardinal.
Zoomed in and that is not a happy face.
All photos are my own.
