Street Photography is generally about documenting life in it's most candid form.
Many of us may have the illusion that street photography means only photos from the streets. But, that's a wrong concept.
Street photography, despite its name, does not need to be captured on the street. The origin of the name is "straight photography." Capturing of moments as it happens and showing human condition. That's the simple definition.
Some of the first examples of what we recognize as street photography today are Eugène Atget’s surreal shop windows in 1930s Paris; since then the movement has been through several significant revolutions.
It doesn't always need to follow the so-called "Rules of Photography." A blurred/unfocused image is also equally beautiful if the story is readable. Breaking the rules, on the other hand, shows the spontaneity and the rush of candidness.
Gone are the days, only searching for the perfect monochrome, leading lines, clarity, Rule of Thirds/ Golden Ratio..blah blah. These are like the cherry toppings on the cake, if you can manage, then it would add the flavor but hey..the main stuff to enjoy is the cake itself. How about that?
Once considered more amateur than artistry, street photography today has a presence in the art world just as much as in the mainstream. The street genre has become progressive and innovative in the recent years and the boundaries of what we think street photography is being pushed gradually.
The essence should be enjoying the process of this documentation. There will always be critics either positive /negative or even neutrals. The main thing which is required seems to be the consistency, enthusiasm and the zeal to learn.
Last but not the least. The price of steem is increasing at the moment.
How much do you think it will reach at this moment. Reply me in this post. Let's see who sees my post. Thanks
