.
In succeeding years
our wisdom is seen
. . . . . . . . . . for what it is
invention and tender folly
as we go forward
imagining mountains
rising ever higher
to see what we thought we knew
on the trails below
illuminated
simplified
and disproved
sweet memories
misted ridges
and blankets of leaves
Before us more mist
assumed
. . . . . or gifted
. . . . . . . . . . revelations
more follies
to be seen
at a later time
as simple good hearted
wishes
flurries
. . . . . favors
. . . . . . . . . . fevers
and fortune
Remember the boy
who swam in the air
immersed his whole being
in feeling and absorbing
. . . . . without knowing
Old man dreaming
catching wisps
. . . . . . . . . . of what is
. . . . . and was
evaporating now
. . . . . as words
. . . . . . . . . . on paper
