It's already Dec 25 here in Thailand! So, the Christmas eve was yesterday so we went out and celebrate! Not that it's important for most. Honestly, Christmas celebration is not exactly a must or so common at all in Thailand. We're not Christian. Though, me and a friend did it anyways as we appreciate all the events & holidays and always excited to make all the days with names (except for Mon to Friday #lol) special somehow!
For me it's always like, omg! It's Christmas, let's get myself a little gift. Wait, it's new year, let's do another gift, shall we? It's father day! Can we just go for some special meal? It's Labor day! and I deserve to take the whole entire day off and yes, that nice cold beer.
I mean, there can always be a reason. It also makes life a little more fun by making all these days feel a bit more special. Try it!
I have said it already, I can say it a hundred more times. "I live by the sea", somewhere in Pattaya. Yesterday, Christmas eve it's just easy for us to imagine what would be the ideal Christmas eve meal scene. We'd love it right on the beach with sunset, live music and some sounds of the wave. Guess what, we got exactly that at Surf & Turf beach bar & restaurant. We were going to another one called 'The Glass House' but probably a little too late as all the tables by the sea was already occupied so, Surf and Turf it is!
There's just a few conditions and that's how they got you! To sit at any table by the water, you gotta order the special Christmas set which includes a bottle of Sangria, Lasagna, cake & ice-cream. That's a set for 2-4 people. We actually wanted a glass of red wine just to feel a little fancy on this special day (wink wink) but we went with Sangria anyways because we need to be where we look out to the ocean and don't see anyone in a way #lol
The set really doesn't fill our 2 stomachs so we ordered a few more dishes. Magarita pizza and deep fried fermented pork ribs set.
No wonder why this place is always full when I walk along the beach. I have been here once and had just burgers. I was good but wasn't that good to make me come back due to it's price. Though, this time it's a little different. I tried a few more dishes both Thai and Western. Somehow, I feel like their food is amazingly delicious and I wouldn't mind paying a little extra every once in a while.
The pizza was thin, crispy and just the way I think real pizza should be like. The deep fried fermented pork ribs was freshly cooked. The ribs was well fermented so just the right amount of sourness and saltiness. Perfect bite with sticky rice and some fresh green veggies they provided. As for lasagna, I'm not too sure if I'm an expert enough to criticize but hey, I likey liked as well. The dessert dish was pretty decorated like a Christmas wonderland. Snowman, Christmas three and a log cake. I could tell they use a real good quality vanilla ice-cream.
In short, the food was epic and I sure would come back again when I fancy some fancy dining. (did I just type 'fancy' twice. Yes, I did. Love that word, it's a fancy word indeed #lol)
The service was good. A little delay due to how packed the place was but they overall did a good job. All the customers mostly come in a group of family or friends so always hear people talking in the background. That makes a place so lively! Live band picked such great collection of songs to play. All easy to listen and nothing hard core so, that went so well with the sounds of the sea!
Another special night before the new year begins. By then, I think there will still be a few more special events before we start counting down to the January 1, 2022! I will make sure I capture the moment to share the good vibes here but for now...
