When It Rains
The floods are coming,
can you swim?
Rains pelt tin roofs
In shanty town.
A widow sits by the window
Awaiting his return.
Cattle in the field
bow dark heads,
Rains wash each clean.
Water pools below.
A truck rumbles on
a rutted dirt road.
Puddles splash brackish water
In its wake.
dogs bark,
and trees sway
while it rains.

When I started blogging under the-name-that-shall-not-be named I wrote a lot of poems. I was coming off of Twitter where I participated on several prompt groups and allowed the one word prompt words to germinate into poems.
This prompt felt like a poem, so it became a poem. The outline (shell) took five minutes. An hour passed and it's changed, but the emotions are retained in the text.
