Why is it so hard to let go?
We tend to grow attached to people, inanimate objects, or pets and when the time comes to let go, we can't bring ourselves to release them. We feel that we need/want them in our lives and can't imagine our lives without them.
I am no exception to this. The death of my marriage is one thing I loathed to let go
It had to be done and, eventually, I realized that unless I cut ties, I would be consumed.
I had a pet dog called Girl as young child. She was a Husky Shepherd mix. Girl was terrified of loud noises. The last night I saw her was a July 4th when I was around 10 or 11 years old.

I went house to house in our suburban neighborhood seeking after Girl, but to no avail. No one saw her. I dreamed off and on for years that she would return, the dogs in the movie The Long Journey, but she never returned.
Years later, I would buy a full-bred Siberian Husky and she lived fourteen and a half years until I had to let go of her, too. Letting go is hard, but it is better than never knowing.
