There are many slippery slopes and everyone goes down one sooner or later...
“Can I interest you in anything?” asked the seller of a nice dream balancing on the log of expectancy.
“Silently so,” replied the less than daring hesitancy of a look before you leap.
“Name your desire.”
“Do you have any laugh more and let the money pour in?”
“Sorry, all out of that today.”
The wheels of not doing much squeaked open the doors to a large cavern of thought and a perpendicular sigh dropped out and landed on the moon and immediately became a pin-up for the sailors on shore leave.
The audience applauded most furiously at this even though no one was sure why they were doing so.
A small yappety dog was brought in as an afterthought to spice things up but was set upon by the minions as an absurd idea before it could say anything and consequently had to be taken away in chains to relieve the tension that had built up.
An obscure and brilliantly white half of one hour was sent on it its place and proceeded to tell jokes until a skinflint jumped out of the abundance ladder and disappeared into the eternal wheel taking with it all semblance of credibility.
This caused an uproar that had to be quelled quickly or mayhem would ensue and would be unstoppable.
So Larry the Lipper was drafted in from another story already told previously and set to work.
Mightily he toiled without a break until a small piece of magic fell from the sky and landed at his feet.
“What’s this?” he said bending down to pick it up. As his hand closed over it he was transformed into another date and time to help out elsewhere; he was a busy man.
This left a huge gap where he had been standing that grew and grew before everyone’s eyes.
A clap of thunder and a trumpet call were heard to come from the gap as it expanded rapidly, and lo, there stood an old Norse God caught unawares suddenly appearing in the gap.
On seeing the audience he began to tap dance and was doing pretty well until the manager brought the curtain down which pleased no one at all so he had to take it back up again; but by then things had changed on the stage and in fact things had moved on so much nobody could make head nor tail of it all so a little boo went up followed by another and another until there was pandemonium with many rotten eggs being thrown for good measure.
Anyone with any sense had already left and gone home to watch TV which left only the rabble rousers who were hell bent on causing as much trouble as they could.
“Wow, I’ll take it; how much?” said the hesitancy of a look before you leap.”
“As this is one of my least popular ones and hardly leaves the shelf I’ll give it to you at a discount,” said the angle of a nice dream.
“Can you wrap it up and deliver it to where I live?”
“Certainly sir, it’s already done.”
The hesitancy of a look before you leap ran off home to leave the angle of a nice dream to go back to the kitchen peeling onions and crying.
The learning curve of all this looked to the heavens in askance and then went and made a cup of tea.
