I was wondering about donuts and Japanese donuts to be exact, and where they came from. So here's one possible explanation...

“You may have been doing nothing but you were doing it together, and that’s what counts here where the doing is always done to the code hero of tradition,” said the witch boiling in her own anger.
“We’re terribly sorry,” said the two who had been caught doing nothing together.
“You must now fill out a form to explain all of this togetherness in nothing to my satisfaction, or else,” growled the witch pulling two forms out of her bag and handing one to each.
When they both looked at her blankly the witch searched in her bag for two pencils. As she handed the pencils over she commanded them to begin.
“And no cheating,” she said.
As the two diligently filled in the forms a dark thunderstorm fell by overhead and rained down wet rain that soaked everything including the witch. With it raining so hard and the forms sodden there was nothing left to do but run for cover.
In a good for nothing shed they came to, the policies of an extraction unit was beating around the bush with nomenclature in the throes of a horizontal expenditure.
For all intents and purposes it was Friday, not that anyone could tell otherwise just then, but with the bursting open of the door much was formulated in mitigation, but Friday was not enough of an excuse and so the wrath of doom came down on the two there as the witch exploded in anger.
“What are you doing?” said the witch almost too angry to speak.
“Nothing,” they said together.
“You may have been doing nothing but you were doing it together,” said the witch looking around the empty shed, but seeing nothing else to be angry about she carried on.
“Too many have been doing nothing together too much,” said the witch and took away all their favours and turned them into Japanese donuts and then put her wand away.
“Class dismissed,” she said then and flew away on her broomstick to look for other miscreants who were doing nothing together.
So now you know where Japanese donuts come from.
