I consider myself a lucky mother to have a low-maintenance daughter π
--
Hi there, Hivers!
I want to share our simple and quick stop at 7/11 today. This wasn't planned, but I consider it meaningful.
Just a quick story, my daughter is 17 years old. She's an only child, our ΓΊnica hija. She's a grade 12 student at one of the city's prestigious schools. She doesn't ask for money, and she doesn't want to buy expensive clothes. She doesn't even eat at school and waits until she arrives home. Every day, we gave her 500 pesos (or around 170 HIVE based on today's value). But every time we check her purse, that 500 pesos is always untouched. No matter how we persuade her to buy whatever she likes or needs, and we will just replace it the next day, she still insists on saving it instead.
One time, she looked so frustrated. I thought she had problems with her homework, or maybe something bad happened at school. So, I asked her. She said that she ate out with her friends at lunch. They went to a famous Korean Samgyupsal Restaurant. I was so happy but confused. I asked her, " What's upsetting about that?". You know what she said? She was upset because she spent 250 pesos (around 85 HIVE based on today's value) for lunch. π OMG! She said it's too much.
I told her she doesn't need to worry, and I'll give her more pocket money tomorrow. π
Anyway, I had free time yesterday afternoon, so my husband and I decided to wait for her at the jeepney stop. She was so excited to see me. I told her it's my treat for her. It's lunch time already, and I know she's hungry. I told her we are stopping by 7/11 and she can get whatever she wants to eat. She was so excited! She's like a baby who's about to get a candy. π
She checked the fridge for some drinks. I helped her choose some snacks, sandwiches, and buns. I wanted to get a donut, but they were sold out. So, we just got some chicken fillet.
Now, we were ready to pay, so I asked her what she got. She gave me a bun and a can of Coke. π€£
I asked her, "Anything else?" She shook her head while smiling. Smiling as if she won the lottery π
I whispered to my husband to add more chicken fillet so she can eat more. My husband happily complied.
We went home, and I let her eat the chicken fillet first with rice. At first, she was surprised that we got a lot of chicken fillet. πThen, after lunch, while doing her homework, I let her have the buns and the soda.
Our day ended well as usual.
Do you have the same problem as I do? A cheapskate daughter π
Or maybe this is a blessing π₯°
