I took this photograph with a Canon SX40HS, modified by the CHDK firmware update. I used CHDK to enable a 45 second exposure.
Seeing a dim green light to the north, knowing it was an aurora, I raced to grab my camera and find a dark spot on the Wisconsin country road. I just happened to pull up next to a windmill, providing a novel silhouette in the foreground.
