Most of us knew about the saying, "Food is Life." Partaking foods are one of the best options for a family to have a moment to bond together as one. As what it says, "Food and Family are intertwined." I am one of those who really wanted to have a good talk with my family over the table.

Yesterday, I received a notification from the admin of this community, encouraging me to join this writing prompt. I was actually surprised by that. This is actually not new to me, I mean, I already tried to join writing prompts before in the other platform but the theme for this writing prompt is quite challenging for me. Good thing, I have remembered one of the valuable memories that up until now, I treasured a lot. And with that, let me share my story as my entry for this week's, "Ink Well Creative Nonfiction Writing Prompt #2: Food and Family."
Story Time
Growing up in an average kind of living is quite difficult especially when it comes to financial matters. My father works as a "Tuba" (coconut wine) gatherer and do some sideline works as carpenter or an on call driver while my mother is a housewife. So that means, my father is the only one who makes money for our family. When I graduated college all I have in mind was to give back to them, for all the sacrifices they have rendered just to support my studies.
I graduated last 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree but unfortunately unemployed and ended up being an online writer with the help of a friend. In my everyday hustling, I earned an amount that I never had before. As much as I want to buy stuffs for myself and buy things for my parents, what comes on my mind as a top priority is to treat my parents in one of the known restaurants here in our town.
When I was able to withdraw an amount from what I have earned through blogging, I invited my parents to have a good meal at town and said, "Its my treat Ma, Pa." They didn't believe me at first but I did insist.
We went at town around twelve o' clock so that we can really partake the foods for lunch. When we arrived there, I immediately looked for a table and let them sit in there. I ordered foods that we rarely eat at home but not all because its quite expensive. (Laughing) Aside from the food, I also ordered "Halo-Halo" as our dessert.
While eating, we talked a lot of things about anything that comes to our minds. I can see that they are really enjoying the moment. Of course, its a heart warming feeling for me to be the reason behind all of that.
After that, we went at town proper and buy clothes for the two of them and few groceries for home use.
Treating them FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME is one of a kind experience for me as their daughter. I never expected that I would really come to that point that I would be given a chance to do so and that it why it is, "A TREAT THAT I CAN NEVER FORGET!"
