Hello Buddies...
It's been a long time since I've been here, sharing my thoughts based on a prompt. I've wanted to write here again a few times, but I was afraid of revealing too much about who I am, so I kept waiting for a prompt that wouldn't make people judge me, and this week I found it. It's about photos I took with my phone.
I haven't taken photos with a proper camera in a long time, just the camera on my phone. About two years ago, I bought this phone after much hard work and careful consideration. My previous phone had poor photo quality, so I decided to buy a new one. I bought it for my trip to Japan, but it's still there. Since I'm not confident with my photos, I want to improve my photography skills and find different perspectives. So here are some of the results...
I took these photos during a short vacation in Bangkok. I chose three of the hundreds I took because they're more than just photos; they tell a story that I'll never forget. These three photos are incredibly memorable, and that's why I chose them.
Buddha - Wat Po
As you know, Bangkok has many temples. One of them is Wat Po, located in the center of Bangkok. Wat Po is a heritage temple with many Buddha statues. Of the many Buddha statues there, I really like this one because of its distinctive color. This portrait reminds me of difference, that being different from the crowd is a beautiful thing.
Big Prawn - Platinum Mall
This second photo is of a large shrimp in the food bazaar in the courtyard of Platinum Mall, Bangkok. Besides its appetizing size, it is a shrimp that has been grilled by the chef. There is a story behind this photo, where I had no idea that I would spend dinner in that courtyard. At that time, I only intended to eat instant noodles because I didn't want to risk non-halal food. So when I finished buying instant noodles, I just found out there was a food bazaar like this, and this photo is from a stall specifically for halal food. I looked at the price, it was quite expensive. I didn't have enough cash. I even refused to withdraw cash because I objected to the admin fee. So I just looked around the courtyard of Platinum Mall, while searching for cash from my wallet. After giving up, I tried to count again, it turned out I could buy one of the halal menus from there. How happy I was after calculating the cash I had, it turned out to be enough to buy a portion of seafood fried rice. At least I ate rice that day—a typical Indonesian who must eat rice. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford this shrimp, so I just kept it in my phone and said 'next time I'll order it for you here...'
Yellow Flower
This last photo is a photo of a candle bush in a park in Bangkok. I love photographing flowers that I see beautiful. If collected, my collection of flower photos is very large. And the reason this photo is the best is because the color reminds me of dusk. Look at the end there, the sun has also painted an orange color, similar to this flower. and I just found out that this flower has a beautiful Latin name. Senna Alata is the name, like the name of a beautiful and graceful woman. It seems that I will adopt the name of this flower as one of the characters in my novel. I already have the name Senna inspired by the Mahabharata character Bimasena, so maybe I will make it have two inspirations.
