Empon-Empon, A Traditional Drink That I Bought In Malang
What do you prefer when you feeling unwell like cough, fever, or something like that? Do you have a traditional drink or directly buy a medicine?
When I start to feeling unwell, I usually looking for natural medicine first, then when it become weaker, I then go to the clinic for medicine. The natural medicine that I prefer usually was Jamu or coconut water. People like, go drink for Empon Empon. I have never drink Empon Empon in my life. When I'm in Malang, my friend support me to buy this Empon Empon. Today, I make this Empon Empon.
Empon-Empon
Empon Empon is a traditional drink made with selected tropical herbal plants of Indonesia carefully. It was contains or mixture of Curcuma, Turmeric, Ginger, Black seeds, Red Betel, Lemongrass, Cinnamon, Clove, Lemon and Palm sugar. That was a herbal drink that you can made by your self. But this time I want to tell you about the Empon-Empon that I bought in Malang, East Java, last time.
Benefit of Empon Empon are for digestive keep healthy, lose weight, body endure, warming the body.
Empon Empon that I bought in Malang was Instan on 150 gram packaging. The name was Empon Empon Nusantara, a signature blend of tropical herbs. This is what's inside of the packaging.
All materials of herbal plant blend in one time and become a powder like this. You have to only boil it or brew it with hot water. It would make your body feel rejuvenate . It would be better when you drink it every day.
The texture of Empon Empon was rough, as you can see on the picture above. It was recalling a sand on the beach.
It is my cup for brewing the Empon Empon powder this morning. I brewed 2 tablespoon in the 200 mili liter of hot water.
Empon Empon has dark yellow color which is came from the turmeric. You know that turmeric has strong color, then the dark came from cinnamon and palm sugar. The smell is so fragrant.

At first I thought this drink will be tasteless remind the taste of all traditional drink was tasteless. This is not like what I thought. It taste sweet by the palm sugar but not that sweet. I really like the taste of this Empon-Empon.
Enjoying a traditional drink in the morning will relaxing my mind, it's just my thought, but it's true. I felt relax after drink this Empon Empon.
