Met some sweet children today while on a walk. They were playing outside near a greenbelt behind an apartment complex.
My son and I greeted them and they asked “Do you want to see a rabbit?”
To which I replied, “A wild rabbit?”
They shook theirs heads yes and pulled back a folded over jean jacket to reveal 4 small wild baby bunnies.
“Do you want to hold one?”
“I said no, but asked them if they knew where the mother bunny was and did they know she would be needing to nurse them every night?”
They told me yes, they put them back every night and feed them grass and give them drinks of water in the daytime.
They proceeded to tell me that they had even named them, so meet Mary, Juan, Marco and Polo. 😊
Hopefully they are returning them to their nest every day; so mama can finish her job of nursing them and send them out into the world.
