Happy new day to us all, I hope that we had a wonderful night rest.
For me personally I was struggling to sleep at some point before midnight but when I eventually did it was wonderful and peaceful.
Our journey with raising farm animals has been beautiful on one side and ugly on the other. By now we have lost 4 out of the 5bunnies birthed to us. It's such a painful experience. At first I had thought that it was properly the grass food we feed them, thinking that maybe the owner of the house where we often get these food must have added some herbicides to the grasses but since not all the bunnies died at once it is typically not a sign of food poisoning.
The mother and bunnies have been eating thesame kind of food all through with no issue but the bunnies began to die one after the other. The death began when they have passed the very fragile early stage of their life, they were already older than 5weeks.
When the first one died and I brought the matter here, I learnt from a fellow blogger that bunnies are prune to infection and flu that they might have caught pneumonia. Not many people rains bunnies here, it's difficult to notice the signs or understand when a bunny get sick, these bunnies weren't showing any signs, we just sleep at night and find them dead in the morning.
Since we have just one baby left and the mother we decided to get another male that will impregnate the mother. Rabbits can give birth as many as 5times before a year is over but it's better not to burden them.
By now this mother has rested for over 8weeks and we want her to get pregnant as soon as possible. For these, we will keep trying until we get it right
The white male rabbits looking good, healthy and cute
While we are loosing bunnies we are good with the turkeys on the other hand, they were fed with industrial prepared meals we have been buying, they took adequate antibiotics meant for birds and we haven't lost a single one of the 5poults hatched.
By now they are about 3months old and we are watching to see which ones will be the male and female among them because very soon they may start laying eggs as well. 8months of growth is maximally enough for turkeys to grow and start producing eggs.
