Budapest, Hungary
Fun fact: my grandmother came from a village in Burgenland, Austria right near the border with Hungary. She passed recipes down to my dad, so dishes such as schnitzels and Hungarian goulash were staples growing up. Even as a child I preferred bread schnitzels to the traditional meat ones.
Tomorrow would have been her 91st birthday. Sadly she passed away twenty years ago when I was very young. She suffered so much in her life so I am glad her suffering was not prolonged but I wish I could have known her better and that she could have been well. She is the grandparent I probably have the most in common with. She was very intelligent and quite spiritual from the little I know. I also learned as an adult that she became vegetarian in later life. Mum thinks she might be one of my guardian angels. I don't know enough about that. I know more stuff about reincarnation. So I hope she is experiencing a better life.
Budapest seems really pretty like Prague and Florence and other parts of Europe. It was also a favourite of Elisabeth, Empress of Austria, also known as Sisi. I relate to some of her struggles and life too but that's a story for another day.
Happy birthday Grandma 💝
