Today marks 3 months since I joined Steemit.
In the past month, I have achieved:
Another 101 followers for a total of 461 (THANK YOU!!!!)
reputation of 44.2
over 1800 posts and comments
48 SteemPower - without adding "real" money.
I know that some grow faster than I, but I also have mostly kept to my photography, not asked for "upvote-for-upvote" or "follow-for-follow." All "organic" growth.
I will repeat and expand my short series this week about what I have learned during my time on Steemit thus far, things I wish I'd known from the start that might help other newbies.
Here is a little bit more about me.
I started writing some "fan fiction" in 2004 to help me get through a rough divorce. At some point later, my sons and I developed our own fictitious world, where almost all my works of fiction now take place. I do plan to start sharing these with you very soon - so please keep a look-out.
I do have a novel that is about 99% finished - but I have delayed on it because it is not meant to be a stand-alone novel and I have discovered that the novel is not my preferred form. Rather, I prefer the novella - about 70-90 pages. It tends to be a condensed, get-in-get-out format that better fits my personality and writing style. To best make use of this, I have developed a way of putting together four novellas into a single book using a fifth "binding" novella to tie everything together. For my first collection, I have three novellas finished and the binding story about a third done. This collection takes place in 850TCE (Terrenden Common Era.)
This past couple of years, I did not have access to my older writings, so began a novella (it may insist on being a little longer though) about a period well before my current collection - telling the tale of a tragedy which was hinted at in my more recent novellas. Being my own world, with its own history, I am totally free to write anywhere I want on the timeline, so that's what I did - weave a story 21 years prior to the 850TCE collection.
My style tends to be a rather eclectic blend... They are: romance, sci-fi/fantasy, action/adventure - all rolled into one unique brand. A'mara Books.
Anyway, just a little about my writing. You will see more and more of that area of me in the coming month, especially as I enter more contests on Steemit - both in photography and in writing.
