I wanted to post this in the Paid Member Lounge of Reddit, but then after writing it, I found out there can be no self-promotion. So I stopped myself in my tracks. Since I didn't want to waste my writing, I decided to paste that post here.
Hey there!
I’ve been working on my Twitch for a few months now. I am glad to be part of this platform that allows me to do what I am passionate about. Playing video games and entertaining people while at it.
I feel that I have been called to this Twitch and hope that it will turn into a career for me like the greats that ever lived on this live streaming platform. At least that is a dream.
I tried getting work since I don’t have a job. But no requests for me to go for interviews ever came with any of my applications. This is the only way to give myself chance to pay my bills and earn a living.
It is as if there is no other choice.
I tried to write a novel. But I am not good enough. Going back to school is too costly and I doubt I can ever do better if I didn’t. I am in Malaysia and all the good communities of the writer world are all somewhere else like the US or UK. So I will just stop dreaming of this any more. I still continue to write a blog because I love writing.
This time around, I am putting in 34 hour sessions of work and will be completing 108 hour work weeks.
My efforts have always been futile because I dream too big and fail because I do not have the guidance or the know how to get to my destination. So I keep banging against the wall with no sense of why it is not working.
I am starting out like everybody else on Twitch. At least I haven’t been getting 0 views for years which I have read. I have gotten it for a few weeks and now average 7 viewers per stream.
I am streaming Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft, Fortnite and other good games. I also do stream party games like JackBox Party games to play with viewers. I am trying out esports and want to see how far I can go with that.
I started my own Discord and post videos on YouTube. So far I have found it hard to get followers by going to other’s channels to invite them as self promotion is frowned upon.
Please do let me know if you do stream too. As I would love to meet you. For those that wanna watch live video game streams that you never knew existed. Yes, these exist. When you wanna check out game play before you even buy the game, here is a good place to see what happens in the game before you make your purchase.
