A few days ago, my friends and I did a great bike ride to the village Emona and Cape Emine, which I will talk about today in Wednesday Walk.
In autumn we cycled along this route but did not reach Cape Emine because our end point was Irakli Beach. Then we liked the cycling route so much that we promised ourselves to come back again in the spring. So we did.
Our starting point was the Elenite holiday village - a famous Bulgarian destination located at the beginning of the Southern Black Sea.
A few days ago it had rained heavily and we assumed it would be a bit muddy - we were not surprised. Already at the beginning of the trails, the puddles started.
Fortunately, it wasn't like that all the way.
On the way there are uniquely beautiful places where we stop. This is one of those places with a uniquely beautiful panoramic view.
It smelled like thyme all around and beautiful trees were leafing out.
We continued along beautiful paths among meadows where we find yellow irises.
We saw a magnificent tree on the side of the road and went to see it. It had a huge hollow and a rich crown.
We just got on the road and saw a new interesting place - in the distance it looked like a small lake. We couldn't help but go see him.
It turned out to be a large mud puddle, but it had an interesting shape and there was a tree on one side.
We continued on our way to catch up with our other friends.
We approached Cape Emine and the village of Emona could be seen in the distance.
We headed towards the promontory passing through green meadows full of grazing cows.
Reaching the nose, I was captivated by the grandeur of the view that unfolded. The high sheer cliffs, the vast expanse of the sea - the feeling was enchanting.
They say that this is the place where the Black Sea divides into North and South.
Some information from Wikipedia:
Emine is an almost sheer 60-meter cliff, surrounded by hundreds of underwater and overhanging rocks, scattered more than 250 meters into the sea. This is precisely why the coast here is extremely dangerous for shipping, and sailors avoid it from afar. There is a lighthouse on the bow.
Almost to the edge among the low bushes were cows and calves.
We continued to the Monastery Church, which is the only one left of the Medieval Saint Nicholas Monastery of Emona.
We headed to the village of Emona, where we had a great vacation visiting Villa Emona located in the center of the village.
A few shots of the great atmosphere that reigns there and the wonderful terraced vegetable gardens that the people there take care of.
A delicious lunch was prepared for us, and the kind hostess sent us off with cookies.
We were supposed to go back, but we chose another route.
We left the village, crossing a large rise.
Again we went through many muddy sections and through beautiful views.
We came home quite muddy but very happy and pleasantly charged.
