Ingredients
🥩 1 pound ground beef, 80% lean
🫒 Cooking oil, for frying
🧂 Salt, to taste, Great Value
🐔 A pinch of chicken bouillon powder, Knorr
🌶️ Ground black pepper, to taste, Great Value
🥔 1-2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced into small cubes
🌿 A handful of cilantro, finely chopped
🧅 ½ to 1 small onion, diced
🍅 1-2 medium tomatoes, diced for the filling
🍅 2-3 whole tomatoes, for the sauce
🌶️ Jalapeño pepper, for the sauce, quantity to taste
🌽 Masa dough, prepared with a pinch of salt
🥬 ½ head cabbage, shredded thinly, for topping
💧 Water, for boiling and meat mixture
Instructions
1- Prepare the Meat Filling:
- Heat the black non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat with a small amount of cooking oil.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spatula, and cook until browned.
- Season with salt, a pinch of Knorr chicken bouillon powder, and ground black pepper.
- Peel and dice potatoes into small cubes. Once meat is browned, add potatoes, cilantro, onion, and diced tomatoes.
- Pour in about ¼ cup of water, stir to combine, cover with Great Value aluminum foil, and let simmer until potatoes are tender and filling is dry.
2- Prepare the Sauce:
- Boil whole tomatoes and onion with the jalapeño pepper in the small red saucepan until softened.
- Transfer boiled vegetables to the black blender and blend until smooth. Set aside.
3- Prepare the Cabbage Topping:
- Boil water in a large red pot, add shredded cabbage and a pinch of salt.
- Boil for 2 minutes, drain well in a white plastic colander.
4- Assemble the Dobladas:
- Flatten a portion of masa into a thin oval using hands. Place a spoonful of filling on half.
- Fold and seal the edges with fingers, forming a half-moon. Repeat.
5- Fry the Dobladas:
- Heat a generous amount of oil in the frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the dobladas until golden brown on each side, using tongs to handle them.
- Drain on a tray lined with paper towels.
6- Serve:
- Arrange dobladas on a white ceramic plate.
- Top with cabbage and drizzle with the spicy tomato sauce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
