I stare blankly at the space in front of me.
Not at anything or anyone in particular. At times my body moves without thought, driving or walking to a familiar place, looking out of a window with my chin leaning into my palm. I could be seated on a bench enjoying the feel of the breeze on my skin, taking in the sounds of the city. I’m in the clouds dreaming and wishing I had more time. I’m torn between my desire to create and my devotion to the lives that I care for. It’s one thing for me to want to starve as an artist but it’s not just me anymore. I laugh inwardly repeating familiar words in a sarcastic tone, “What about me and my dreams?” “Who is John Galt?” I suppose my worries are insignificant when you view them on a larger scale. I wander through the haze of my thoughts, venting out my frustrations until I reach my highest, lowest and then find my sanity again. Something catches my eye and I’m brought back to reality. It takes another moment for the shapes in front me to become recognizable. When I reach for my tea I find that it’s gone cold. Nothing new.
