In Caracas, the capital of my native Venezuela, is located a large part of our beautiful Avila National Park. It is a great privilege for those of us who live in or near this city to have access to this beautiful mountain range.

Walking its trails is really pleasant, there are several accesses from different parts of the city. Breathing the fresh air, enjoying the smell of the trees and the earth is fascinating, the body and mind relax.

Almost from any part of Caracas you can see this imposing mountain, of course it is not the same to see it from afar than to step on its land. For health reasons I have not been there for quite some time, about 3 years, however, very soon I will be able to return and at that time I will be able to share images of its beautiful corners.

Today I went to the park and I was content, for now, to contemplate it from a distance, however, it was not so far away, by car it would take less than 15 minutes to get to one of its busiest entrances. I was on foot, it would be about 45 minutes, as I leave the park, walk to the bus stop and wait to arrive.

I spent quite a while contemplating this natural beauty, remembering the nooks and crannies I have visited and how delightful it is to be up there. A little heron friend was so peaceful despite so many humans around and allowed me to take this picture.

The artificial water container made a good game, which made me think that humans and the rest of nature can work in balance or at least complement each other in some occasions, as in the case of the image, there is a car, a sidewalk made of cement and buildings, it is beautiful to see how nothing seems out of place and everything seems to be in the right place.

I can't deny that for a moment I felt something like compassion for the heron, to see it so lonely and without any other of its species near it, but surely they were somewhere else in the park and later they would come to meet it, I hope so.

Today in my eyes was reflected something beautiful, I have seen similar moments but none is like this, nothing is repeated, this moment was unique and I'm glad I captured it. The water looks like a mirror, the heron seems pensive, the mountain does not move but has life, the clouds do not stop and yet pose for the photograph.

It is difficult to explain beauty, it is better to contemplate and admire it.
